Matthew 10:8: [Jesus is saying.] "As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near!’" "We don't have a king in the United States! We broke away from Great Britain and got rid of king. We don't need a king. We're doing quite well without one." Are we? To say that we don't need a king is silly. We do need a king. We need Him desperately. And the King that we need? He is Jesus! Jesus said at least twice, "The kingdom of heaven in near." That means it's not a long way off, it's not somewhere else, and it's not a long time from now. It means that the kingdom of heaven is near. It is right here. It is right now. It has been near for the last 2000 years. Jesus tells us that HE is near. HIS Kingdom is on our front door step. It is in our houses and families when we open ourselves to HIM. Jesus is standing and knocking at the door of your house and the door of your heart. Let down the barriers. Let down the reality of resistance to Jesus and His Kingdom. Repent of your stubborn pride of thinking you don't need a king. You do. Your family does. Your country does. Humble yourself before God, and He will lift you up. You'll be amazed how different your family life will be. God, break through my walls, lead me to acknowledge You as King.
