Ruth 1:16: But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you [Naomi] or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.

Here is dedication. Here is commitment. Here is FAITH. Ruth loves Naomi so much that Ruth is willing not only to follow Naomi to a new country and a new land, and to dedicate her life to a new God. Ruth is ready, willing, and able to go into the new land and life. Ruth is taking "a leap of faith." Both Naomi and Ruth have no idea what will happen when they arrive at Naomi's hometown of Bethlehem. At the same time they trust to God who will lead them and guide them

It is the same with us. We believe and trust in God. We follow His lead. We know and believe in all of what God did for us. At the same time, we also struggle with following. Sometimes we are "fuzzy" about God's will and what He wants. Sometimes it is difficult to take the "leap of faith" because we are scared of the unknown. Sometimes our trust is shaky.

That is why we look to the examples of faith, like Ruth and Naomi. That is why God gave them to us. "If they trusted God throughout all the hardships and challenges they face, we will too." we say. It is our faith's commitment. Let's pray.

Dear God and Father, thank You for Jesus and all that He did. Thank You for salvation. Thank You for the Holy Spirit who guides us and directs us. Lead us to walk by faith and trust You. We pray this in Jesus' name. And all God's children say...
