We have begun a new walk in this season of Lent. We are seeing, knowing, and experiencing “The Life Worth Living.” We are travelling with Jesus toward the future of the Lord’s Supper, the cross and crucifixion, and the Resurrection.
We are walking in the grace of God.
Let’s think about the walk of Jesus toward the cross. He knew that it was going to happen. He was ready for it. He was prepared for it. It was part of God’s plan in order to save us.
And Jesus is preparing us for it. God wants us to repent, to turn our backs on sin, the sinful nature, and the influence of Satan, and turn toward Him and His new life for us.
As we walk the life worth living, we experience the gift of Jesus and his body and blood for you. Jesus gave us His body and blood in Holy Communion for the forgiveness of our sins.
Then we walk with Jesus to the capture, trial, and crucifixion. This is gruesome. It is painful. It is “good” for us. Jesus received all of mankind’s sin, anger, fear, and confusion. Jesus gave forgiveness, peace, and love. Jesus was buried and all of our sins and sinfulness are buried with Him. No longer are the sins influential and powerful. They are “dead and buried.”
And we walk the life worth living as we walk from the tomb. “Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed. Alleluia! We walk in a new life. We walk as resurrected people. We walk with truth, grace, peace, mercy, and love.
And we walk into the future, into a future that God has for us. We walk right now everyday carrying the new life. We walk into the future with purpose and focus. We walk as a disciple who is part of “making disciples.”
This is our mission. This is our purpose. This is our reason for being here on earth. We walk the life worth living in the present and into the future.
Have a great reflective Lent and a dynamic Easter.
Your servant in Christ,
Pastor Robert
