It is a wonderful time of year. Every family with school aged kids is scrambling to buy all the materials for school. Stuff like, notebooks, uniforms, new clothes, pencils, crayons, markers, and all the other “stuff” that is needed.
And teachers are working to get classrooms ready for the children under their care. Arranging desks and tables, decorating walls, filling cubby holes with needed material, writing lesson plans, and the like.
There is a lot of preparation that goes into back to school.
And while back to school is important, there is one other thing that is even more important. And that is coming back to God.
And here is a major difference between back to school and back to God. Back to school requires an awful lot of work on your part to get ready for school. And sometimes you forget some things or get things that are not necessary this year. There is a lot of pressure on you to get it done.
Back to God is not like that. Back to God is accepting that God has taken care of all the preparations. He has taken care of all the “worries.” He has cleared the path so that you will come back to God. God has done it all.
God has forgiven you of all of your sins through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, His Son and our Savior. God has cleared the way for you to start anew with Him. God the Holy Spirit is ready and willing to guide you through the crazy life in which we live.
You have been readied to come back to God, to live the new life that God started in you. And now that you’re back, it is time to crack open that Bible and learn more and more about what God has done. It is time to celebrate with your brothers and sisters in Christ as we received God’s gifts of life and praise Him for all His works on your behalf. It’s time to be a part of the life that God has in store for you.
Please see that coming back to God does not require you to do a thing. It’s already been done. Coming back to God is all about taking His hand and letting Him lead you and love you like no one else.
Your servant in Christ,
Pastor Robert
