Hello, Winter. It was good to know you.
I have been in the south, specifically Texas for the last 21 years. I am still not used to the season of Winter lasting for a month, maybe. If I look at the weather for the next week or so, it will be in the 70’s. That is not winter. That is spring. At the same time, there will always be seasons in our lives. There are winter, spring, summer, and fall. There are, birth, childhood, young adult, and mature adult. There are lows and highs. There are bad and good times. It is life in general. You have heard the statement, “I you don’t like the weather, wait eight hours. It will change.” Nothing stays the same. Adapting to changing environments, situations, cultures and the like has been, and will always be the role of the Church. At the same time we stay constant, stable, and strong in the Word of God. The Word of God is our anchor. It keeps the boat, called the Church, from crashing into the rocks, getting tossed about by storms, and lead away from God by means of the winds from mankind. The Word of God is also our tool to weather storms of the seasons of life. It is the sharp double-edged sword that both cuts with God’s Law and heals with God’s grace. God’s Word is how we bring the light of God into the world that is full of the darkness of sin. The more we know from God, the more we are anchored in Him. The more we know from God, the bigger our tool kit in order to impact the darkness with God light. And we dive more into the Word of God through our Bible Talks groups throughout each week. Now here is my challenge. For the month of February and beyond let us make this our goal. Let us increase our participation in a Bible Talks group by one. Either add one more week in attendance, attend one more Bible Talks group, or start attending one of our groups. In this way, you will be better equipped, you will be encouraged through the Word and the group, and you will be engaging in the Love of God. If you have any questions, please reach out to me. Your servant in Christ, Pastor Robert
