We have added a convenient service for online giving. This will allow greater flexibility for those who wish to support the ministry of Faith Lutheran Church and School. Notice the new link on the home page:
On Sunday, Feb 5, Super Bowl Sunday, our youth will be collecting a free will cash offering at the door (after worship). This is part of the national ministry, "Souper Bowl of Caring". All gifts will go to Good Shepherd Mission.
Stamp Collection - As the holiday season comes upon us, we will be receiving cards and letters to greet us. Please do not forget the "Stamp Collection" project of Faith Lutheran Women. All postage stamps are appreciated, but the commemorative, foreign or otherwise unusual stamps are more valuable. Simply cut the stamp off the envelope, leaving a 1" border around the stamp. Place them in the box provided on the LWML table in the fellowship hall. Thank you for your continued support. We pray for your help with this mission projects.

Audio-Visual Renovation
The AV Team has released a Request for Bids (pdf) for the renovation of the Audio Visual Capabilities of the Sanctuary and the Gymnasium.

Campouts
To make it easier for planning purposes, the following schedule for campouts has been set:
Fall Campout = 3rd Saturday in October; Spring Campout = 4th Saturday of April; Winter Campout = 3rd Saturday of February; Summer Campout = 4th Saturday of July.
Instructions for Lutheran World Relief Health Kits:
1 hand towel, dark color recommended
1 wash cloth, dark color recommended
1 bath size bar (4-5oz) of soap, any brand, in its original wrapping
1 adult size toothbrush in its original packaging
1 comb, wide tooth preferred, remove packaging
1 metal nail file or nail clippers with file attached, remove packaging (do not substitute
cardboard emery boards for the file)
6 Band-Aids (or similar brand), preferably ½" to 3'4", secure together with a rubber band
Do not add other items or leave out any of the items listed. All items should be new
and in good condition. Wrap smaller items in the wash cloth; wrap wash cloth and
remaining items in the towel and tie securely with ribbons or yard. Do not enclose the
kit or any of its contents in plastic bags.

Take a peek at the church's new online directory. On the church's homepage, look under the "Church" tab. Click on the "Church Directory and Events Gallery" tab. 50th Anniversary Church Picnic
Over 120 members celebrated Faith Lutheran's 50th year in Huntsville. Here is a video of the event.
In the Loop; Get the Scoop, June 2009
Members will be receiving an invitation to attend an informational meeting where representatives from the various boards (School, Finance, Elders) will be answering questions and updating them on the congregational celebrations, school enrollments, and budget changes. Several meetings will be held so that all members will be able to find a convenient time to attend. Call the church office for times and more information (936)295-5298.

Carnation sale, June 2009
Faith Lutheran Women is taking orders to purchase red and/or white carnations either in honor of or in memory of fathers. These carnations will be displayed in bouquets in the sanctuary on Father's Day, June 21st. The cost is $2.50 for each carnation ordered. The names of the honored will be published in the worship folder on that Sunday.
Envelopes for ordering carnations are on the table in the Narthex. Make checks payable to Faith Lutheran Church.

Church Officer Nominations Accepted March 9 - 22, 2009
The Nominations Committee is now seeking candidates for the following officer positions:
Congregational President, Congregational Vice President, Congregational Secretary, Congregational Treasurer, Chair of the Board of Christian Education, Chair of the Board of Youth Ministry, Chair of the Board of Social Ministry, Chair of the Board of Faith Lutheran School, Chair of the Board of Stewardship, Chair of the Board of Young Adult Ministry, Congregational Elder (places 6-9), and Congregational Trustee.
We have several names thus far, but we want to make sure you have the opportunity to put foward names (including your own!). The job descriptions are included in the Constitution and Bylaws of Faith Lutheran Church (pdf link). The election of officers will take place at the Voters Meeting after Worship on March 22, 2009.

Lilies for Easter
If you would like to purchase one or more Easter Lilies for use in the Sanctuary on Easter Day, the Board of Public Worship is accepting $10 donations per Easter Lily. They will be purchasing the lilies during Holy Week. Please fill out an envelope from the table in the narthex and place it, along with payment in the box. Checks should be made out to "Faith Lutheran Church". The deadline for purchase is April 5th. Any proceeds from this sale will be donated to fund FLY activities.
Pastoral Profile Summary
The Board of Elders completed the pastoral profile summary ( pdf file ) at their February meeting. This document was generated from the two congregational surveys. The Board of Elders thanks the congregation for their participation in the call process. Your input has been very informative and motivational.

The Alter Guild is taking orders for poinsettias for you to purchase for $6 each. If you would like to purchase one or more poinsettias for use in the sanctuary for Christmas Eve please fill out an envelope on the table in the narthex and place it along with payment in the box. August 26, 2008 - Pastoral Profile Survey Is Now Available
A hard copy of the survey is being delivered to each member's box. Members may complete the survey online or may complete it by hand and return it to the church office.
Either way, EACH member of Faith Lutheran Church is asked to complete the Pastoral Profile Survey.
The Call Committee of Faith Lutheran Church and the Texas District, LCMS will use the results to identify an appropriate list of candidates.
The survey window is scheduled to close September 15, 2008.
August 16, 2008 - Elder's Retreat Focuses on Call Process
The Faith Lutheran Church Board of Elders - Jimmy Meekins, Ron Goerdel, Doug Dretke, Richard Henriksen, Don Kraemer (Congregational President), Dick Hansen, Bud Byrne, Ray Teske, Dickie Pustejovsky, Darren Williams (not-pictured), Larry Cobb (not-pictured) - developed a pastoral profile survey and a congregational health survey so that the members of Faith Lutheran Church may share their vision for the future.
The details of how and when the surveys will be available are forthcoming.
